Today, I'm going to be talking to you about how to make a life plan. This isn't actually as complicated as it sounds, but you will need some equipment to help you. So, firstly go and grab yourself a bit of A-4 paper and a pen, pause the video, come back and play again when you've got that. Okay, now you've got your piece of paper, what I want you to do is draw yourself a big circle on your A-4 piece of paper and then divide it into eight sections. Put a line down the center one across, and then two that way, so you have eight segments, and then you're going to create some labels around the outside. So we're going to do eight labels. The first one is money and finances. The second one is work/business/career, whichever is most appropriate to you. The third one is health and fitness. The fourth one is friends and family. The fifth one is your physical environment. That's basically where you live, the house you live in, the area that house is in, the kind of community around you, the country, all of that stuff that relates to your own environment around you. The next one is romance, so could be, you know, long-term partner, marriage, family, all that kind of part of your life. We also then have fun/recreation, so how much fun/recreation you have, and lastly personal development, your own growth as a person. That can be spirituality, it can be knowledge, learning, everything about growing, not only your knowledge and experience, but also yourself as a human being. So, what's going to do now is really kind of start to look at where you are now, so what we should do in each of those segments is rate yourself on a scale of one to ten with one being low, ten being high on your level of satisfaction right now with each of those areas in your life, and just draw a line across the segment. One is obviously closer to the center and ten is going to be right at the edge for that whole circle. Once you've done that, that's going to give you a really clear picture of where you are in your life now, and then you can start planning it out, what it is you want to create going forwards. The second piece of this is then for each of those eight sections in each of those categories. I want you to sit down and write yourself at least half a page of A-4 around what a ten would look like in your life, so if for example fun/recreation, what would a ten be for you, how would your life be? What sort of things would you be doing, who would you be doing them with? And do that for each of your eight sections, and that's really going to form the first basis or the first part of your life plan. Now, you've created your plan and you've got your eight sections about half a page at least or a page of A-four on each one. It's a real detailed plan to be exactly what you want in each area in your life. Then we sort of need to look at then how are you going to make that happen. This is kind of doing a little bit of action planning, a bit of goal setting. The best way to do that is to do it section by section and do it over a timescale. So, look forward at the fun/recreation that we used before. Where do you want to be at that in ten years? Five years? One year? Six months? And also look at it the other way around, start at six months and work upwards to ten years. So you kind of get used to doing it in both directions, and that will help you get really clear as building stepping stones and kind of milestones along the way. The last bit and almost the most important bit of this whole process is to think about and find out your why. What is your compelling reason for wanting to change your life and make these things happen? Without being really clear on what that reason is, it's what's going to get you into action, that's really important, it's unlikely that you will succeed. So, it really is important to get clear on what is my why, what is it that's really important enough to me to get out there, get out of my comfort zone and actually make these things happen.
