How To Make A Lolita Hairstyle

Today, we're going to go for the Lolita hairstyle. We need, during this sort of look, 8% of your work than the prep time. So, what I've done is I've done really large vertical sections with my Cloud 9 straightening irons and I put the hair in and do really large vertical sections and then on this side, with these smaller sections, I want to tie it away to the front here.

Make sure you really need to use a heat protector with a slight hold in the hair and you put your irons in, you twist at 18 degrees and you slowly slide through. The slower you slide through the hair, the stronger the curl you get and then the smaller the section, the stronger curl you get.

We just take it right through, making sure they're right around the end there, let it go and you got a curl there ready. Now, I'm doing my final section up here, a bit more heat protection through, and I always hold the ends there just to make sure that they don't slide down your iron and they wouldn't get heat that way and just make sure you get the ends right tucked under and there you have it. So, I've prepped the hair now, a really formal Lolita hairstyle.

What I want to do is spray over, just really lightly, a serum that's in spray form. It's really handy to do it this way so we don't have to touch the hair and you just get an even amount of serum onto the hair. I'm going to use a Mason and Pearson brush and we're not really going to brush it through.

If we do that, we're going to end up with really big messy hair. So, what I do is really gently brush the top layer down and smooth off with your hand afterwards. You're not really pulling the brush through the hair, you're just covering the surface and brush lightly underneath as well and think of it more like you're caressing the hair rather than giving it a good brush.

You don't want too much movement at the back here and when we get to the sides, we're going to just brush that side through really really gently just to create the shape that you like and then brushing the hair, we're just pushing that up with your hand just to create a nice sort of ridge in the hair like that and then a nice dip in the hair. We create an S curl and you just work down the hair shaft and we're just going to finish off with the comb now because the comb will give you a smoother finish than a brush. And there you have your Lolita hairstyle. .
