Ingredients

  • 150 g Butter or Margarine
  • 150 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3 medium Eggs
  • 150 g Self-Raising Flour
  • 2 Coco Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder

Step 1: Prepare the Tin

You can use any shape of cake tin. Grease the inside with some butter or margarine, making sure you get the corners. Then dust the tin with a little plain flour. Place upside-down on a piece of parchment paper on a flat baking tray.

Step 2: Start Mixing

Take a mixing bowl and add the butter/margarine and caster sugar. Cream together to remove lumps. Add a splash of vanilla extract.

Step 3: Add Other Ingredients

Break the eggs and pour the insides into the cake mix, stirring to remove lumps. Add the cocoa powder and mix. Stir in the baking powder.

Step 4: Bake

Pour the mixture into the cake tin and spread evenly, then put it in the oven to bake. When ready it is springy to the touch and a skewer comes out clean.

Step 5: Serve

Leave the cake in the tin for a while then turn out on to a cooling rack. Trim off the edges. Add some sprinkles and serve.
