A brief and easy tutorial on how to make a homemade paper envelope that can be a quaint, but simple way to make your greeting card more meaningful.
Now, I'm going to show you how to make a pretty homemade envelope. First thing you need is some paper. Now, if you're going to go to the trouble of making an envelope, then the most important thing is to make sure your paper is quite special, so this is really nice handmade tactile paper.
And first off, you need to create a rectangular shape. I'm going to use a template here and here, we've made it 15 cm by 21. And you simply roll it out and then you're ready to cut.
Once you've got your rectangular piece, which is going to form this bit of the envelope, you then need to make the envelope flaps, and basically, you've got a shape like this. Once you've cut them out - I'm going to demonstrate with this bit - you should have on rectangle and two-side bits like this and then where it joins, just fold these bits over and they are - so you can see - about two, two and a half centimeters just to allow you to stick it onto the envelope. And then, in the centerpiece of the envelope, the body of the envelope , you just want to use some double sided sticky tape and put it all the way along here like this, and then simply attach the sides.
It's really easy. And then, you might want to have a ruler just to help you fold neatly. And again, at the side, at the side, and here, if you've got any pencil marks from where you drew, just erase them.
Then to finish it off, get some pretty ribbon because this is almost a little gift in itself - a greetings card, a little post card, a personal note for someone -and then tie it up. And there you have a very simple, very pretty handmade paper envelope. .
