Serves:

Preparation Time:
5 minutes
Cooking Time:
15 minutes
Total Time:
20 minutes

Step 1: You will need

  • 1 bread roll, sliced into two
  • 150 g rib eye steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • a few slices of provolone cheese
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 frying pan
  • 1 set of tongs
  • 1 tray

Step 2: Prepare the onions

Begin by placing the frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add some of the oil and when it's hot add the onions. Stir them around with your tongs. Allow them to cook until soft and brown, stirring occasionally. Then remove them from the pan and place onto a tray.

Step 3: Prepare the steak

Allow the pan to heat up again, then add a little more oil. Add the steak and season it with salt and pepper. Let it cook very briefly, for roughly 30 seconds, just long enough to brown. Turn the slices and cook them for a couple of seconds. Then remove and place them alongside the onions.

Step 4: Make the sandwich

Open the roll and place the meat inside. Add the Provolone cheese slices, put the fried onions on top of the cheese and close the sandwich.

Step 5: Serve

Your Philly steak sandwich is now ready to serve. Garnish it with ketchup, mustard, or with whatever your tastes call for.

anonymous, you're an idiot. Have you ever heard of Tony lukes or Geno's? they do NOT cut their steak up thin and no place in philly mixes the onions and steak while it's cooking. also no place cuts their meat up first, the ones that cut it up thin do it on the grill. the only thing this lady did wrong was she didnt put the cheese on the steak before she took it off the grill so it could melt. also i would have left the onions on the grill to keep them hot until the sandwich is made. The most important parts to making a good cheese steak are using rib eye steak, and a really good roll.

Are you kidding me. This video has to be a joke. A true blue Philadelphian would barf seeing his cheesesteak being made like this. Must be made by someone from Charlotte NC. You think?

It's easy to poke fun at Americans when your user name is listed as 'Anonymous', isn't it?

just because it's a recipe for making your own at home doesn't mean it has to be completely wrong! the steak should be sliced into very thin slices BEFORE cooking. i season mine too with salt and pepper. then: 1. cook the onions. 2. push them to the side of the pan. 3. add the sliced, seasoned steak. 4. keep moving steak around until just done. 5. mix with the onions. 6. put 3 or 4 slices american cheese on top of the stuff in the pan. 7. once it has melted a bit, scoop it all up into the bun. or forget about the american cheese and add cheese whiz right at the end instead. or replace the american cheese with provolone if you must.

Why don't you make a video presentation of something that you know. That was a terrible demonstration!

I agree. That is the worst philly cheese steak sandwhich I've ever seen made. It was totally wrong in almost every way.
