How to Make a Pirate Hat: Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. In this video, we teach you how to make your very own pirate hat out of paper or newspaper.
My name is Origami Mark, you can contact me on my website which is http://www.origamimark.co.
uk/. In this session, I'm going to show you how to make a pirate hat. Obviously, we've got an ordinary piece of white photocopier paper.
If you make this out of a newspaper, especially with a broad sheet, you can actually make a hat you can wear, which will be quite jolly. But for the purpose of this, I'm just using this small piece of paper to just show you how to do it. The first thing we do is fold the right hand corner, top hand corner, down to the left, raw edge of the paper.
We then take the left hand point that we just made and fold him down to the right hand to form a triangle with a little bit of oblong at the bottom. Undo that and we find ourselves with three mountain folds and a valley fold. Make the valley fold into a mountain fold and squeeze the pieces of paper together to form a balloon base.
The next thing we do is we reverse fold this rectangle back on itself, fold in the corners, and then take the whole flap back over to the other side, and tuck it into the model to get the makings of a hat. So that's the basic hat, we can then embellish it by adding the points and corners and things, to taste. So you have that kind of hat, you can have your one this way around with a little peak on it, you can sink the top like so.
And there you have a hat.
