Hi there, I'm Matt from the Underground Cookery School and today, I'm going to do a video cookery lesson for you. So today, I'm going to show you how to make a classic ranch dressing. I've got some mayonnaise, which I made earlier on, and I'm just going to pour that into the bowl and I'm not going to put all of it in, because I might want some of it later.

I've got some sour cream, the quantities are one part mayo to half the volume of sour cream, a drop of milk, I mean they do say a quarter of the volume of the mayonnaise, but, we're going to look for texture ultimately, which I'm going to show you, and then start mixing. What I may do is, I may add a bit more mayonnaise, just to thicken it out, if I think it needs it. So we're mixing those all together.

I'm then going to put some chopped onions in there, give that a good old mix, those onions in itself, will give it a bit of depth, and I'm going to put quite a bit of, probably about two teaspoons of garlic powder. Now, I've made quite a lot of ranch dressing here and you can keep this in the fridge, in a jar, but that ultimately, I'm just going to put a tiny bit more mayo in to thicken it out, but that will, I mean that would do a salad of twelve quite comfortably, I mean if you think of the volume there, that's probably about a fifth of a bottle that you would get in a supermarket. So there's your ranch dressing.

So that's how you make a ranch dressing, and just one little tip, when you make a salad, my advice is always put the dressing in the bowl, in the bottom of the bowl, add the leaves in and then go in with your hands and give it a good old mix. That way, you can always add a bit extra, so put slightly less than you think you need, because you can always add later on. Ranch dressing.
