How To Make A Silver Chain
How To Make A Silver Chain: A jewelry artist demonstrates one way you can create a silver chain bracelet, using only some pliers, jump rings, and a clasp.
Hi. I'm Jessica from the London Jewelry School, and today I'm going to show you how to make some jewelry. Now I'm going to show you how to make a silver chain.
All you need for this project is a bunch of seven-millimeter silver jump rings, a silver clasp, some flat nose pliers, and some chain nose pliers. To begin with, you're going to take four of your jump rings, and close them all. Once you have your four closed jump rings, you're going to have one open jump ring, and thread all four of them on.
Then close the jump ring. This selection of five jump rings is called a ringlet. So there is our first ringlet.
Now we're going to do exactly the same again. So close four jump rings and have one open jump ring, and thread all four of them on. There we have our second ringlet.
Now, to join the two ringlets together, we're just going to take one jump ring, open it up, thread on two jump rings from one side, and two from the other, making sure that they are two jump rings that are placed next to each other. And we're going to close that jump ring. And you can start to see the beginning of our chain.
Repeat the process, making a series of ringlets, of chainlets, and join them together. Once you've done quite a few, you can make a long chain like this. Check that it's the right size for your bracelet, and to finish off, we're going to attach a clasp.
Take one jump ring, and join the two jump rings at the end together. Also pop on one side of your clasp, and close that jump ring. And do exactly the same on the other side.
You're going to take one jump ring, attach two jump rings at the end of your chain, and your clasp, and close. You can then close your clasp. And there you have a silver chain!.
