How to make a strawberry-banana smoothie. For this demonstration, you're going to need strawberries. Now, I've actually frozen these purely so you don't have to use any ice.
I feel a smoothie should just incorporate fruit and juice. You don't have to add any ice just to cool it down, you don't detract from the flavor. Some people recommend freezing the banana, I find the preparation after freezing them to be a bit laborious.
We're going to use apple juice as a base, which is probably one of the most popular bases we use because it's quite a mild flavor. You can add milk to make a milkshake, you can add pineapple juice. I find orange a little bit too acidic so as I said, we're going to use apple juice for this.
You're going to need a blender. You can get these from most stores, the internet, or supermarkets. You're going to need a jug with a good fitting lid, a glass or cup to put it in and obviously a straw.
Okay, so what we need to do is take the lid off, we're going to use one banana for this. This should make about 400 ml of drink. You can put as many strawberries as you'd like, depending on how you like it.
You can also add other fruits as you wish, but for this, we're just using strawberry banana. Put in the juice, I would recommend buying pressed apple juice rather than concentrated apple juice. It's just a little bit better, a little bit healthier for you.
So that's in there, we're going to put that in the blender. One thing I would recommend is making sure the lid is on firmly, it's very easy to forget to put it on properly and have it pop off. This machine has a timer so it'll stop after about 15-20 seconds.
Most home blenders, you have to wait for them to turn them off so we're going to give this a go now and I'm going to get the glass ready. There you go, that's done. If you hear any rattling inside, it's probably just the frozen fruit that hasn't been blended, so you can just give it another go.
If it's too thick, just add a little bit more liquid, if it's too thin chuck in a bit more banana or strawberries. Strawberry-banana is a classic combination, strawberries are full of antioxidants. Bananas are full of fiber and potassium.
They're great for keeping you active and alert. Great for a breakfast shake, in the morning, breakfast on the go. Pop the lid off, there you go, that's your strawberry and banana smoothie. .
