- 800 g tinned plum tomatoes
- 1 sprig of basil
- 1 celery stick
- 1 carrot, cut in half
- 1 onion, peeled and quartered
Step 1: Heat the Elements
Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the carrot, the cut up celery, the onion, the basil and a good pinch of salt and pepper. Fry for about 5 minutes to release the flavours.
Step 2: Add the Tomato
Mash the tomatoes with a potato masher, then add them to the pan of frying vegetables. Simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Remove the vegetables
Remove the vegetables, and your tomato sauce is ready to use!
