How To Make An Apple Torte

Pre-heat oven

Before beginning your apple torte, you will need to set your oven to 170 degrees Celsius.

Prepare the batter

Start the batter by placing the sugar and one egg into the mixer. Turn mixer on high and allow the egg to mix in thoroughly. Now repeat for the other 3 eggs, allowing them to mix in individually. Continue to let the batter whip a bit longer, allowing it to incorporate more air.

Add the butter and flour

You can now add the melted butter to the batter. Introduce it in trickles and wait for it to become well-combined before adding more. Next, reduce the speed of the mixer and introduce the flour to the batter mixture.

Once flour is combined, you can introduce the milk, the vanilla essence and the lemon zest. Let them combine briefly and turn off the mixer.

Next, use your spatula to fold the apples into the batter. Follow this by adding in the rum-soaked raisins.

Transfer the batter into the baking tin. Place it in the oven and let it bake for about 50-55 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius. To see if your torte is ready, test it with a wooden skewer. Insert the skewer into the centre of the torte and if it come out free of batter, the cake is finished baking. Let it cool to room temperature.
