Today we will explore the fasinating ancient art of Origami. We take you through some simple steps to get you strarted on your first piece, an origami Crane.

Turn over your coloured piece of square paper and fold in half on the diagonal

Make another diagonal fold to make a triangle half the size

Raise the corner, separate the two sheets and squash the point flat

Turn the model over, raise the corner, separate the sheets and squash flat

Take the edge and fold it to the centre crease

Take the opposite edge and fold it to the centre too

Turn the model over and fold both edges to the centre of the model

Lift the flaps out and take a single sheet. Lift it up and pull it until the sides close in and stretch out

Turn the model over and repeat

Make the edges narrower by folding them to wards the centre

Turn the model over and repeat step 10, folding the edges towards the centre

Open up the model and bring the point up nice and high before closing it again using a reverse fold

Repeat with the other point. This time create an extra reverse fold to create the crane's

Take the wings and pull them apart. As you take the wings out the centre of the bird will balloon out to form the body.

i LOVE these videos! thanks. I saw another note below -- I agree that sometimes the videos move quickly but i just keep my cursor over "pause" and go at my own pace. I've looked at a lot of origami how-to videos and these are by far and away the best. I've made almost everything here. Mind you, I've had to "unfold" and "refold" to get the hang of it. most interesting to me is that I learned how to make the crane from someone else and the technique here is completely different (same end result) but fun to approach from a different technique! thanks a lot!
