How To Make An Origami Fish
Origami Mark shows us how to make an origami fish. Origami is the traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding which has been practiced since 1603.
My name is Origami Mark, and you can contact me on my website which is oragamimark.co.uk.
In this session, I am going to show you how to make an origami fish. I am using a square piece of paper, it is yellow on one side and white on the other, of course, you can use whatever you want. First thing you do is fold the model diagonally in half, then fold the points together.
You are now looking at an inverted triangle. You are going to fold the raw edges on the right to the center and the same on the left. Unfold it out so that we have an inverted heart shape.
Fold the whole model in half back on itself. You then take this top point and fold it in on itself. So we fold it, put this part down, fold the model in half.
You then fold this triangle in half, and this flap here, you make sure this top piece lines up with the center of the model. The next thing we do is we take this point and fold him down to that point there. The model will naturally go where it is supposed to go.
Now, this flap here is the tail and we are going to fold that back outwards, fold the tail. We will do the exact same process on the other side. You fold this top flap inside underneath, then we do exactly what we did before on the other side so we fold the triangle in half making sure that the flap appears lined up.
Then, we take this piece which we now know is the tail, take him back and he will line up with the piece of tail we made earlier, and then reverse that. You then tuck that part of the flap up into the other side. So, we have the makings of a fish like we do now.
Finish that part off by taking this part back on it self, and inside, there's some paper that we can release on both sides to release the paper because if we don't, it won't be symmetrical. The only thing we can do is flip the tail back out, so that's what it looks like. Now, we form the mouth which is a little pinch of this.
So there's that piece on my side. With a puff of wind, it inflates and we have a fish. .
