My name is Origami Mark, and you can contact me on my website which is origamimark.co.uk.

This session, I'm going to show you how to make a simple water lily, which can be made out of paper, or you can actually make it out of napkins if you are so minded. I am starting off with a square of paper: red on one side, yellow on the other, whichever colour you want. First, we put the diagonals in.

Like so. Make sure the folds are origami folds. Next thing we are going to do, is fold the points to the centre.

This manouvre is called a blintz. So there we have a blintzed square. Next thing we do is fold the corners in again, so these corners go in.

Tidy at the corners, blintzed twice. Turn the model over and we'll blintz again. So we fold the corners into the centre.

Like so. So we have a model with all of the corners folded in. The next thing we do is turn our attention to these four flaps we've got and what we do with those is we lift them up as much as they will go, folding that point underneath as much as we can fold them underneath.

And then inside there, you will find that there is another flap which we can lift up and fold back giving you a lily shape, like so. And as I say, you can make that out of paper or out of napkins- it looks nice as a table decoration. .
