How To Make Banana Custard

Bananas and custard are a classic combination; you can make this dish in no time for a quick and simple dessert. Paul Mulvenna-Pegrum shows you how to make it in this step by step guide.

Ingredients

  • 500 ml full fat milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 40 g cornflour
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 2 large bananas

Method

Bring the milk to the boil, then remove it from the heat.

Whisk together the eggs, the sugar and the cornflour. Add the hot milk and whisk again. Return to the pan and bring back to the boil. Keep a bit of extra milk handy in case it gets too thick.

When the custard has thickened, add cut up bananas and serve.
