How To Make Beaded Watch Bands

How To Make Beaded Watch Bands

Jessica Rose from the London Jewellery School shows you how to make pretty beaded watch bands easily at home.

You Will Need

  • flat nose pliers
  • side cutters
  • chain nose pliers
  • 1 reel nylon wire
  • 1 watch face
  • 7 mm jump rings
  • 1 silver plated clasp
  • silver plated crimp beads
  • selection of beads

Method

Take a 50 cm length of nylon wire. It's better to have too much than too little since any excess can be cut off. Thread the end of the wire through the hole at one end of your watch face. Take a crimp bead and thread it on to the long end of the wire. Thread the other end of the wire in to the bead and then move the crimp down to the watch face. Squeeze the crimp once with the pliers to keep it in place.

Add on the beads you would like. Make sure the beads you use are substantial enough to make a watch strap. Once you've finished beading, place a crimp bead on the end and then add a clasp. Cut off any excess wire with the side cutters. Repeat the same on the other side, attaching a jump ring.
