How To Make Butter Biscuits

This rich and tasty butter biscuits recipe will be a success with all of those who have a sweet-tooth in your family! Sample our Butter Biscuits recipe.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 30 g icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • A pinch of salt
  • 130 g Plain flour
  • 100 g corn flour
  • 180 g butter
  • A little flour for dusting
  • and some icing sugar for the garnish
  • 1 mixer with the flat beater attachment
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 biscuit cutter
  • some baking paper
  • 1 tray
  • 1 small knife

Step 2:

Preheat the oven

Before beginning your butter biscuits, set the oven to 160 degrees Celsius.

Step 3:

Begin the dough

First, place the butter and the icing sugar into the mixer bowl.

Mix it for a minute on medium speed and then increase the speed to high.

Once the sugar is well-mixed with the butter, add the salt and the vanilla essence.

Step 4:

Complete the dough and chill

Return the mixer to a low speed and add the flour.
Next, add the corn flour but mix it only until it is evenly combined.

Turn off the mixer and scrape the dough from the attachment.

Now allow the biscuit dough to chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

A quick tip:

Make sure the dough is well-chilled or it will be impossible to work during the next step.

Step 5:

Shape the biscuits

Sprinkle your work area, the dough, and the rolling pin with a little flour.

Slowly and gently roll the dough to a uniform thickness of about 1/2 of a centimetre.

Now using the cutter, carefully make the individual biscuits. To make it easier, you can dip the cutter into a little flour.

Use the small knife to help transfer the biscuits to the baking tray covered in baking paper.

Step 6:

Bake

Place your biscuits into the oven and let them bake for 15 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius. They should have a whitish appearance when done.

Step 7:

Remove and serve

You can now take your butter biscuits out of the oven and let them cool a bit.

While still warm, sprinkle them with a little icing sugar. Your biscuits are now ready to serve. If you can make yourself wait, let them cool to room temperature. Enjoy!

agree with cassis. surprisingly, most cookie recipes start with turning the oven on. i don't. not until i'm almost ready to bake. as for the anonymous comment re all those mearurents, it helps to have a glass measuring cup for liquids, and several sizes cups for the dry ingredients. most american cook books ask you to rurn on the oven too soon.
