This Videojug film will show you how to make delicious candied pecans in a few simple steps. Serve this snack to your guests.
I am going to make candied pecans. What you need are pecan nuts, granulated sugar, ground cumin, mixed spice, paprika and rock salt, and it's a very, very simple dish. All you do is pour all of these ingredients into a saucepan.
Now, I am going to add three hundred mills of water. Give it a little swirl around, and place the saucepan onto the heat. You want to bring the liquid to the boil, and then you are going to leave it to simmer for twenty minutes until it is a nice thick gooey sauce.
After twenty minutes, when the syrup has really thickened, you want to drain the pecans through a sieve into a bowl, like so. You then want to get the pecans and put them onto the baking tray, and I am putting them onto silicon paper as well, like so. Flatten them out and separate them out as much as you can.
But don't worry, once they have set, you will be able to break them up. And now, these go into the oven for twenty minutes or until toasted. I have removed the pecans from the oven and I have let them cool down.
They are now nice and golden and ready to be broken up to put into a dish onto your serving plate. You can break them in half if you wish to, but it is really quite easy to deal with. And these are ready to serve with your cocktails prior to dinner.
