How To Make Cauliflower With Tomato And Cumin Sauce

Although this may sound like rather a sophisticated dish for a baby, it will actually give your child the opportunity to try all sorts of textures and flavours in just one dish! Don't be afraid to be adventurous, let Sian Blunos show you how to make Cauliflower with Tomato and Cumin Sauce.

Serves:
6 to 8 portions

Step 1: You will need

  • 400 g chopped tomatoes, or 1 tin
  • 450 g cauliflower florets
  • 25 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 small onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 Clove of garlic, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin

Step 2: Blanch the cauliflower

Put the cauliflower in a saucepan with rapidly boiling water. Cook, uncovered, for 10-12 minutes, or until tender and strain.

Step 3: Make the sauce

Heat the butter and oil in a pan and gently fry the chopped onion, garlic and cumin for about 3 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes and simmer for a further 5-8 minutes.
Add the strained cauliflower to the pan and mix well in the sauce.
Serve with a mash potato or leave to cool, divide into portions and freeze.
