You Will Need

  • 340 g very fresh, high quality, white-fleshed ocean fish, e.g. sea bass filleted and skinned
  • 60 ml fresh lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp fresh orange juice
  • ½ Tbsp spicy pepper, finely diced
  • 2 Tbsp yellow pepper, finely diced
  • 2 Tbsp red pepper, finely diced
  • 1 ½ Tbsp minced red onion
  • 2 Tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp coarse salt
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 knife
  • 1 large glass bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • cling film

Step 1:

Cut the fish

Dice the fish into small cubes.

Step 2:

Mix the ingredients

Place the fish into a glass bowl along with the lime juice, orange juice, peppers and onions. Mix well.

Step 3:

Cover and refrigerate

Cover the bowl tightly with cling film and refrigerate for 3-4 hours, opening it up occasionally to stir the ingredients.

Step 4:

Add the herbs

3-4 hours later remove the bowl from the fridge, add the fresh coriander, olive oil and coarse salt and mix well.

Step 5:

Serve in martini glasses

Finally, serve the ceviche into martini glasses or any other serving dish and enjoy as a unique, refreshing way to begin a meal.

lol odoggz... is there something like 'sushi grade fish' in american or european markets? There may be many ways of making ceviche, but for sure, if the fish is cooked, it's the wrong way.

I am peruvian also. I know other latin-american recipes. This seems like an attempt to do a peruvian ceviche, but is not quite right. Basically, the oil is out, and the other ingredients are too many, too much and too chopped. The magic of ceviche is simplicity, but the fish or other seafood should prevail in quantity over the other ingredients. Ceviche: cut the fish in small squares, add onion in fine slices, add lemon juice until you can see some liquid at the bottom, then add garlic, salt, pepper, your favorite chili pepper, cellery and/or coriander. Let it rest for half an hour and that's it. Serve on a plate over a leaf of lettuce, with a piece of sweet potatos and/or cooked corn.

why not add whipped cream or fudge. Who told you that's the way to do ceviche. Maybe in Venus

ok, if you want to make real ceviche, do everything that the video tells you except for adding the oil, the orange juice, the peppers(none of them!). You can only add the spicy pepper if you want to. Then, when the ceviche is ready, you put it on top of a tostada (fried corn tortilla) and you can put ketchup on top, and salsa (like tapatio or something like that), and more lemon juice if you want to. And that's it!!

    Anonymous  (227 days ago)

instead of everyone just saying "no no no" 'this is not ceviche" how about writing why this is incorrect?

This is not ceviche this is a variation of "Tiradito" another Peruvian food

i agree with a lot of people here, peruvian ceviche is the best one by far. simple, fast, tasty and really refreshing.

well, there is ceviche all over Latin Amreica. Certainly this is not Peruvian ceviche for sure, Ecuadorians use popcorn and tomato juice in theirs. I wonder if the author can specify where she or he got the recipe from and change the title to reflect this.

This is NOT the way to make ceviche! This is recipe is just ridiculous. For a more authentic recipe make sure to look for a Peruvian ceviche on google. or visit this website http://www.artperucuisine.com/docs/5.html --> click on ceviche.

while there are many ways to do Ceviche, this one I'm not messing with. Raw fish like that? You're likely to get sick if eating non-sushi grade fish!
