Ingredients

  • 30 g butter
  • 30 g flour
  • 200 ml milk
  • pepper
  • 100 g strong cheddar cheese

Step 1: Prepare The Cheese

Grate the cheese.

Step 2: Make The Sauce

Place the butter into a heating saucepan, break up the butter into small pieces so that they melt better. After about 30 seconds the butter should have melted sufficiently for the flour to now be added into the saucepan. After a further 30 seconds of gentle stirring, the liquid in the pan will now be thick enough for half of the milk to be added. Give the mixture another gentle stir, and then add the rest of the milk, making sure to constantly stir. Keep stirring until there are no lumps left in the mixture. Put the grated cheese into the mixture, then add the pepper, give it a decent stir for about 30 seconds.

Step 3: Serve

Put some broccoli into a baking dish, and drizzle all of this sauce onto the broccoli, ready for baking or serving.
