How To Make Chicken And Mushroom Pie
- Serves:
- 2
- Preparation Time:
- 10 minutes
- Cooking Time:
- 20 minutes
- Total Time:
- 30 minutes
- Oven Temperature:
- 180° c - 360° f
Step 1: You will need ….
- 4 cooked chicken breasts, cubed
- 150 g button mushrooms, quartered
- 600 ml mushroom soup
- 50 g parsley, chopped
- 1 packet of ready-to-roll puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg for glazing
- salt and pepper
- 1 oven dish
- 1 pastry brush
- 1 wooden spoon
- 1 pastry shape cutter
- 1 knife
Step 2: Preheat the oven
Set the temperature of the oven to 180ºC (350ºF/ gas mark 4).
Step 3: Mix the ingredients
Mix together the mushroom soup, cubed chicken, mushrooms and parsley. Season with salt and pepper and stir well.
Step 4: Transfer to oven dish
Spoon the chicken mix into the oven dish, smooth it over and push it down lightly into the dish.
Step 5: Cover and brush
Unroll the pastry onto a flat surface and using a sharp knife, cut out enough pastry to cover the pie. Do not discard the excess pastry as we'll need it later on. Lay the pastry over the pie dish and lightly push down the edges with your finger tips. Trim off the excess pastry hanging over the sides and push down the edges once more. Finally using your pastry cutter, cut out three squares from the left over pastry.
Step 6: Glaze and decorate the pie
Brush the pie generously with the egg wash. Use the pastry squares to decorate the top of the pie and brush with the egg wash once again.
Step 7: Bake
Place the pie in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.
Step 8: Serve
When golden brown, remove the pie from the oven, slice and serve while piping hot. And that's how you make Chicken and Mushroom Pie the VideoJug way.
Tips & Comments
This dish was a good hearty meal, very tasty and easy to make. My only suggestion is to add 2 cups of frozen veg!!
simple to make, it was fantastic

I think it is very well explained and i'm going to try doing it
thank you for a nice simple recipe - some of us dont want to use 7 different herbs and spices and a load of other high minded ingredients oh and the nails didnt bother me - biting your nails has NO relevance to whether you can cook or whether something can be delicious - just shallow comments showing small minds without love.
I made this recently and was very pleased with results, it tasted fab!. The only thing I would change next time is the amount of parsley; I would use less. But aside from that, a really nice recipe, thanks.
easy to make, yeah the bitten finger nails yuk!!!
yes the bitten fingernails put me off as well. i couldent watch much longer!
I made this last night and I can tell you it is better than anything I have tasted here in Norway! its a recipie you can play with to adjust it or add more too it! it ws lovely! In response to the "person" that wrote a comment about the finger nails, it did not show anywhere an invitation to you to come and eat the pie in thi vid! so there was no need at all for the personal dig at the chef! as long as your own finger nails are ok then it dont spoil any recipie! you obviously have nothing better to do than be an unkind idiot! Lovely so just try it for something quick and easy! thanks
good simlistic method easy enough for anyone to try.
