Perhaps one of the best combos of ingredients for a mouth-watering dessert is chocolate and nuts. So, this video simply shows you that by making chocolate covered Brazil nuts.
I'm going to make some chocolate covered nuts which are really nice at the end of a meal or to give some as a present. I'm using Brazil nuts here. I've got some toasted Fair Trade Brazil nuts.
You don't need to toast the nuts first but I think it makes them taste nicer and give them a nice crunchier texture and I've got some organic Fair Trade chocolate chips which I'm going to melt. So, I'm going to bring a pan of water into a simmer and I've got the chocolate in heatproof bowl which I'm going to put on top. Now, people would tell you all sorts of things about melting chocolate that you need to stir it constantly or that you mustn't stir it at all.
As far as I'm concerned, as long as you keep the temperature low, so melt the chocolate really slowly and don't let the water touch the bottom of the bowl, you should be fine. If you go too quickly, then the chocolate will seize which is when it goes really thick and dull and grainy and you don't want that to happen and we'll just leave that chocolate there to melt and give it a little stir every few minutes to help along. So, our chocolate is completely melted now and it looks lovely and smooth.
I'm going to take that over to my Brazil nuts and then all we need to do is dip our toasted Brazil nuts into the melted chocolate. I'm just going to drop them in there like that. Make sure they are covered and fish them out with a fork.
Just let the excess chocolate drain off and then drop them into some baking parchment. So then, you need to leave those in the fridge to set for about 30 minutes and that's how you make chocolate covered nuts.
