In this four minute video a tea master demonstrates how to properly make chrysanthemum and Gobi tea using a gaiwan. If you ever wanted to make chrysanthemum tea, this video is a quick and easy way to learn how.
In this video I'm going to show you how to make chrysanthemum tea. Now there are two kinds of chrysanthemum. There's the yellow chrysanthemum and there's the white chrysanthemum.
They both have the same nutritional benefit and medicinal value, it's just that a lot more people prefer the white one because they are just a little bit prettier.
To brew chrysanthemum tea, there are really two methods. The first method is to boil them in water for about five minutes, strain it, add sugar and then you can chill it in your fridge and drink the whole day long.
The other method is the infusion method which I'm going to show you now. We start first by warming the gaiwan teapot and I'm warming the pitcher. Put some chrysanthemum flowers into the teapot.
The amount really depends on how strong you want the flavour to be, but I recommend maybe about two grams per 150 ml (millilitre) volume teapot. If you put too much chrysanthemum the infusion will become very bitter. You can overcome that by adding some honey or sugar.
Now, to make this infusion much more interesting and much more nutritional, I'm adding some Goji berries. Now chrysanthemum is well known for having a cooling effect, so it's a fantastic drink during summer time. It also helps to re-invigorate, it's a very uplifting infusion.
Now, if you look, if you stare at a computer monitor for very long periods every day then I highly recommend you add some Goji berries into this infusion because Goji berries are very good for brightening your eyes and relieving tiredness in eyes, so I'm simply going to add some Goji berries into this. Now this is completely optional, of course, if you just want chrysanthemum tea, you don't have to put Goji berries into this infusion. Now simply pour hot water over the Goji berries and chrysanthemum and let to infuse for one to two minutes.
Now, if you are boiling this, boil very gently and simmer over very gently. Now as you can see, the white chrysanthemum has blossoms and it looks very pretty in the pot. Now, I'm going to do a very light infusion.
I'm going to pour the tea out now.
Please enjoy a very nourishing cup of chrysanthemum and Goji tea.
And this is how you make Chrysanthemum tea.
