Step 1: You will need
- 230 g mozzarella, cut into medium chunks
- 150 g flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 60 ml milk
- 150 g breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 750 ml vegetable oil
- salt and pepper
- 2 trays
- 1 slotted spoon
- 1 spoon
- 1 fork
- kitchen paper
Step 2: Dry the mozzarella
Place the chunks of mozzarella onto a piece of kitchen paper.
Cover with another piece of kitchen paper and pat them dry.
Step 3: Prepare the eggs
Pour the milk into the beaten eggs, and using a fork, beat together.
Step 4: Prepare the breadcrumbs
Season first with salt, then pepper, followed by the garlic powder, and finally the chopped parsley. Mix together well.
Step 5: Coat the mozzarella in breadcrumbs
Take a piece of mozzarella, dust it in the flour then shake lightly.
Next, dip it into the egg and finally, coat it generously in the breadcrumb mixture.
Repeat this for all of the mozzarella pieces
Step 6: Fry the mozzarella
Heat the oil over a moderate heat until hot.
Step 7: TIP!
It shouldn't be too hot or it will just burn the breadcrumbs and not melt the cheese.
Using the slotted spoon, slide several of the mozzarella chunks into the hot oil and fry them for about a minute.
When lightly browned, take them out and place them on a tray covered with kitchen paper to drain off any excess oil.
Continue with the rest of the mozzarella until it's all fried.
Step 8: Serve
Season with salt and serve immediately while still hot.
These deep fried mozzarella are a great option for hot canapés, or an appetizer before any meal, or even served as a snack. And guaranteed to be enjoyed by all.
