How To Make Eggnog

Eggnog Recipe. A deliciously rich and creamy drink which is traditionally drank at Christmas and New Year. This recipe will leave you wanting to drink it all year round! Appreciate our Eggnog recipe.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 6 eggs
  • 250 g of sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ tsp of ground nutmeg and a little extra for garnishing
  • 200 ml of brandy
  • 100 ml of dark rum
  • 500 ml of cream
  • 500 ml of milk
  • 4 glasses
  • 1 electric hand mixer
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 ladle
  • 1 glass punch bowl

Step 2:

Prepare the mixture

Break the eggs one by one into the bowl. Using the hand mixer, beat the eggs for 2 to 3 minutes, until frothy. Slowly beat in the sugar, nutmeg and the vanilla essence. Blend for a few more seconds and then remove the whisk.

Step 3:

Add the alcohol

Pour, the rum, brandy, milk and the cream into the beaten mixture. Stir continuously so that the ingredients are all mixed in together. Place it in the fridge to chill for half an hour.

Step 4:

Serve

After 30 minutes, take the mixture out of the fridge and pour into the punch bowl. Ladle into the glasses and add a pinch of nutmeg on the top to garnish the drink.

I have 5 raw eggs a banana some cream and some honey and blend it. Its the best protein shake you can have as it is all natural, better than those protein powders. I have never been sick from eating raw eggs.

I remember my father making his own health drinks. He always used raw eggs, sometimes he would just blend up the egg. He would do this daily as I was growing up. I never remember him being sick. Of course, he's a retired Marine of 21 years of service; and at 67 he still runs and works out.

People most at risk of salmonella poisoning: Children, Pregnant women those in ill health or with depressed immune systems-so dont worry about the eggs-the alcohol is MUCH more of a risk to these groups!

If you're paranoid, you can use pasteurized eggs.

I've heard similar figures to 1/20000, but are you all sure that the alcohol doesn't kill all the bacteria in the mixture? Something to consider; I'm not sure, but I'd guess it has an effect.
