Step : You will need

  • 160 g brown sugar
  • 120 g butter
  • 80 g margarine
  • 500 g oats
  • 4 tbsp golden syrup
  • pinch salt

Before you begin pre-heat the oven to 200°C.

Over a low heat melt 120 grams of butter and 80 grams of margarine in a deep saucepan.

Add 160 grams of brown sugar and stir well.

Fold in 500 grams of oats, making sure they are evenly coated with the sugar paste.

Mix in 4 tablespoons of golden syrup. Lastly add a pinch of salt and continue to stir.

Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.

Place into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Carefully remove the golden brown flap jacks from the oven. Leave to stand for a minute or two then cut into squares ready for serving.

The perfect flapjacks. Done.

    Nice flapjacks, but a bit too sweet for my liking, next time i`ll try with dried fruit :)

    To cut down on the sugar content add sultanas or any dried fruit you have. I love flap jacks too, they are lovely. :)
