How To Make Fresh Custard

Custard is wonderful poured over any dessert that your baby might enjoy eating, so let Sain Blunos show you how to make lovely fresh custard from scratch!

Serves:
6 to 8 portions

Step 1: You will need

  • 280 ml baby's usual milk
  • 4 Drops vanilla essence
  • 3 Egg yolks
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 10 g caster sugar

Step 2: Heat the ingredients

Mix the egg yolks, cornflour and sugar in a bowl and slowly pour in the milk, stirring all the time. Add 4 drops of vanilla essence if you have any.

Step 3: Heat and Whisk

Pour the mixture into a pan and heat gently on the hob, stirring constantly for about 2-3 minutes, unitl it has thickened up. If it looks grainy, take it off the heat and whisk until it becomes smooth again.

Divide into portions, keeping any excess custard in the fridge for up to 3 days, and serve the rest with some lovely chopped bananas!
