Hi! My name is Xanthe Milton, I'm also known as cookie girl and today I'm going to show you how to make frosting for cookies. Also if you would like to take a look at my other recipes you can have a look at my recipe book “Eat Me” also have a look at my website cookiegirl.co.
uk to find out more about my workshops. Ok, so here I've got about 370 grams of icing sugar and I'm going to add to that 2 large egg whites. You can use an electric whisk for this but you can also a wooden spoon and as I'm using a small bowl it's a bit safer to use a wooden spoon so that I don't get icing sugar all over myself.
Just keep mixing to get the icing into the egg white, this is the kind of icing you can either pipe on to cookies or u can also use it to flood the cookies and that means when you've piped the outside line of the cookie and then you want to fill it in with a slightly thinner icing. So depending on which of those you're doing, just give it a last really good mix. Put your back into it.
Now this is good for flooding the icing, if you wanted to pipe it then you could just add a little more icing sugar so just add a tablespoon or so at a time to thicken it up. I'm going to add a bit of color, I'm actually going to add some green to it. I've got some green color paste, I prefer to use the paste rather than the liquid color and a little goes a long way as you'll see.
We're going to get a nice pastel green, obviously you can choose to do any color you want or you can split the mixture in two or three different bowls and do them in two or three different colors. This will be great for doing trees maybe you could go a little bit darker for that. And there we have icing for cookies. .
