Step 1: You Will Need
- 300 g top sirloin beef steak, cut
- 2 cups (500ml) assorted cut-up fresh vegetables, (peppers, mushrooms, onions and zucchini)
- 1/2 cups (120ml) olive oil
- 1/2 cups (120ml) soy sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp cracked pepper
- Sea salt to taste
- Skewers
- Clean Hands
Step 2: Chop Shop
Chop a half pound of sirloin into one-inch cubes. Stash in a plastic zip lock bag. Chop the vegetables in a similar fashion and place in a separate bag. Don't put the food on the skewers until you're ready to cook, because the juices from the meat will spoil the vegetables.
Step 3: Mix Master
Combine the olive oil, soy sauce, garlic pepper, and salt in a small bowl, and mix. Pour the marinade into the plastic bag with the meat. Pack it in an ice-filled cooker, pack the cooler in your ride, and head out to the tailgate party. Try to let the meat and marinade mingle for about two hours so the flavor really sinks in.
Step 4: Fire It Up
Get your grill pre-heated and ready for cooking. If it's a gas grill, it should take 10-15 minutes to reach about 400 degrees.
Step 5: Arrange The Meat
Kebobs are all about presentation. You probably have more veggies than meat, so skewer two veggies for every cube of beef. Wooden skewers break easily, so consider using metal ones. Just make sure you have a place for people to put back the skewers when they've finished eating.
Step 6: Go Grill
Place the kebobs on the grill over medium to high heat. Shut the grill and let it roast for 5-6 minutes. Open the grill and flip them over and let the kebabs roast for another 5-6 minutes.
Step 7: Side Time
The intoxicating smell of the kebobs means that it's time to take them off the grill. Add a side of tortilla chips with salsa and let it be known that it's time to eat.
