Step 1: You will need...

  • 300 g cooked octopus
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 2 roasted peppers
  • 4 Italian green peppers
  • 1 bunch of basil, roughly chopped
  • 1 bunch of parsley, roughly chopped
  • 3 tbsp pitted black olives, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • ½ tbsp paprika
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • the juice of 1 lemon
  • 60 ml olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 grill pan
  • tongs
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 tray
  • 1 bowl

Step 2: Cut the octopus

Slice the tentacles of the octopus at an angle and place it on a tray ready for grilling.

Step 3: Heat the grill pan

Place the grill pan on a high heat for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Season the octopus

Drizzle some olive oil over the octopus. Sprinkle it with some paprika and season with salt and pepper. Mix together well so that the surface of the octopus is evenly coated.

Step 5: Grill the octopus

Place the octopus in the grill pan and cook for 40 seconds, 20 seconds on each side. After cooking, remove the octopus from the grill pan and return to the tray.

Step 6: Prepare the tomatoes

Cut each tomato into wedges and put into the bowl.

Step 7: Prepare the green peppers

Discard the tops of the green peppers, slice them and add to the bowl.

Step 8: Prepare the roasted peppers

Cube the roasted peppers and also add to the bowl.

Step 9: Complete the salad

Add the octopus, basil, parsley, olives, garlic, remaining paprika, cayenne, olive oil, lemon juice and season with salt and pepper.

Step 10: Serve

Mix the salad well, spoon it onto a plate and serve.

    this salad had an unusual combination of ingredients so I was somewhat apprehensive but the end result is very nice. I didn't use store bought roasted peppers - I roasted some myself. It's much tastier that way.
