How To Make Gunge

Take 750g of cornflour, and pour it into a bucket. Next, take two small glasses of water and gradually add them to the cornflour whilst stirring.

Start to boil a full kettle of water.

Keep mixing your paste with a wooden spoon, until it looks liquid. You will find that although it looks liquid, it may still be tough to stir. This is due to the mixture being a "non-newtonian fluid".

It is important not to add too much water at this stage.

Step 3: Heat

Slowly poor the hot water into the cornflour mix while continuing to stir. The water must be very hot as it is the heat that helps the mixture to thicken up.

Keep adding boiling water until you have enough gunge at a thickness that suits you. Add food colouring of your choice, using as much as you like, though half a bottle should be plenty.

If you find that the gunge is not thickening enough, transfer it to a saucepan and heat it for a few minutes over a medium heat. You will soon notice the change.

The mixture gets extremely hot, so leave it to cool over night before use.
