How To Make Hard Boiled Eggs
- Serves:
- 2
- Preparation Time:
- 2 minutes
- Cooking Time:
- 11 minutes
- Total Time:
- 13 minutes
Step 1: You will need
- 2 eggs
- cold water
- 1 saucepan
- 1 timer
Step 2: Fill the saucepan
Add enough water to almost fill the saucepan and place it on a medium heat.
Step 3: Cook the eggs
Gently lower the eggs into the water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat to a gentle simmer. A soft boiled egg only needs to be cooked for 4 minutes, but a properly hard boiled egg needs exactly 10 minutes.
TOP TIP! Eggs should always be stored in the fridge, below 7ºC/45ºF. If you're cooking them straight from the fridge, add an extra 30 seconds to the cooking time as the egg will be chilled.
Step 4: Cool the eggs
When the 10 minutes have passed, remove the pan from the heat and pour the hot water out of the saucepan. Then place the pan under cold running water for about a minute. This will cool the eggs down and make them easy to peel. When the eggs are cool enough to handle, remove them from the pan.
Step 5: Peel the eggs
Crack the eggs and peel off the shell. But be aware that the fresher the egg, the harder it will be to peel.
TOP TIP: If you want to keep the eggs, don't peel them but store them in the fridge with the shell still on. They'll keep for up to a week. Remember to mark them with the date so you know when they were cooked.
Step 6: Serve
Alternatively, you can eat the eggs immediately - maybe served with fresh baguettes, farm butter and a little salt!

llll
thank you very much.
Simple way: Put eggs in the water. Bring to boil on medium heat. Turn off burner and let sit for a half hour.
No no no no no. This is not how you make the perfect hard boiled egg! Shells will be very difficult to peel, the egg whites will stick to the shell, and when you peel the egg the surface will be all choppy and look bad. I make my secret deviled egg recipe and certainly it is very important that the egg whites surface look perfectly smooth. I do not have to fuss with trying to take the shell off my hard boiled eggs. If done correctly, they should come off easily and without damaging the surface of the egg white. Presentation is important to some people such as myself – to impress my guests. Anyway, if it works for you great – if it doesn’t, I told you so.
4 min? 10 mins? when do you begin to time? upon placing the eggs? or when boiling has started?
