Looking for a way to renew those old jeans or create a new look? VideoJug and Rudy Budhdeo from sonofastag show you how to get the vintage look of worn holes in any pair of jeans in this short film.
I'm Rudy Budhdeo. I work with Sonofastag. Sonofastag works for different denim jeans brands around the world as consultants and as a store in London.
We're going to show you how to look after your jeans and get the best from them. I'm going to show you how to make holes in jeans. There's something obviously - may have different reasons why you want to make holes in jeans.
I would imagine that you want to make them look like old, vintage jeans that have rips in there or to express a difference of some sort. So, randomly get any tools you have around the house. It can be an old pair of scissors.
It can be a nail, a file for nails. It can be sandpaper. It can be anything, because even with sandpaper you can actually make the hole; probably better with a pair, with some abrasive sandpaper.
You can keep doing the same area and you'll make the hole, which will be a little bit more natural looking. Otherwise, just get any tool that make stabbing into the jeans. Be careful not to hurt yourself.
Be very careful how you look after the fabric in your hands. But literally, just make a hole, any size. When you wash it, this will fray and it will actually loosen up the fibers, and it will make it look more organic and so on.
Normally, you'll want a pair - Sometimes people want to make a hole - so they actually want to, perhaps, sew around the hole. You don't necessarily need to cut away the fabric, but if you want to, you can. And it's very simple, you just make some small cuttings.
I would do smaller cuttings than I need initially to make sure the results are right, and we can do a little bit more as you go. Always use an old pair of jeans that you want to play with first. Make sure that you're happy with the technique, and what you're doing, and the results are right before going on to a fresh pair.
But that's how you make holes in jeans. .
