How To Make Homemade Gravy
A good gravy is just as important as correctly cooked meat for any Sunday dinner. In this step by step guide Paul Ellis, cookery school owner, shows you how to make a rich beef and red wine gravy.

Ingredients
- 1 carrot
- 1/2 red onion
- olive oil
- 1/2 cups (120ml) red wine
- 1 cups (250ml) beef stock
Method
Chop up the carrot and red onion, then add them to a hot frying pan with a little olive oil, and cook them for a couple of minutes.
Add the red wine and beef stock, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
Strain out the vegetables, then return the liquid to the pan and reduce down to the desired thickness. Add salt if it needs seasoning.
