How To Make Macaroons
Step 1: Pre-Heat
- 4 egg whites from large eggs
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp almond extract
- 3 cups (750ml) flaked coconut, sweetened
- Mixing bowl
- Mixer or whisk
- Parchment paper
- Cookie sheet
Step 2: Mix
Combine egg whites, vanilla and almond extracts, and sugar, then fold in coconut.
Step 3: Drop
Drop small mounds (1-2 inches across) of the coconut mixture onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, leaving a couple of inches between cookies.
Step 4: Bake
Bake your macaroons about 15-20 minutes, until some of the edges are golden. Transfer the macaroons, still on the parchment paper, to a rack and let them cool for about 15 minutes before you put them in an airtight container. This recipe makes about 20 macaroons.
