Ingredients

  • marzipan
  • food paste colouring

Method

First, colour the marzipan using a concentrated food paste colouring. Add a small amount of colour and knead through the paste until evenly mixed.

Marzipan flowers can be made using different types of cutters. Roll the marzipan out thinly and cut out the shape you would like and use modelling tools to add more detail. For example, using a Dresden tool, create petal effects by stroking downwards from the tip of the flower into the centre with the wide, flat end of the tool. Add a flower centre using a different colour of marzipan or edible silver balls.

You can also add detail using a serrated cone tool, rolling it from side to side across the petals. Blossom cutters are quick and easy way of making shaped petals of different sizes and are perfect for cupcake toppings.
