  • 200 g green peas
  • 150 g paneer, cubed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 1/2 sunflower oil
  • 50 ml water
  • salt

Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan. Add the cubed paneer and fry until slightly browned. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen towel.

Heat another pan and add sunflower oil. Add the chopped onion and fry until golden brown. Add the chopped garlic, ginger and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for a further couple of minutes, then add the cumin powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.

Once cooled, transfer the mixture to a blender, add a quarter of a cup of water and blend until smooth. Add more water if necessary. Return the mixture to the pan and heat. Add the peas and paneer and cook until the peas are done, adding more water if the mixture becomes too dry. Salt to taste and serve.
