- 1 3/4 kg icing sugar
- 400 g cream cheese
- 500 g butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 tsp orange essence
- 1 orange
Step 1: Mix the Butter and Cream Cheese
Whisk the butter and cream cheese together in an electric mixer, starting on a lower speed. Scrape down the sides periodically to make sure you mix all the ingredients together.
Step 2: Add the Icing Sugar
When the butter and cheese mixture is light and fluffy, add the icing sugar and whisk again, starting at a low speed. Once all the ingredients have combined, mix it on the highest setting to make it light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add the Orange
Add the orange essence and the zest of 1 orange and mix again.
Step 4: Top Tip
This recipe makes a lot of icing, so if you just have one cake or a few cupcakes to cover, you can reduce the quantities proportionately.
