I'm now going to show you how to make orange plasticine. My ingredients for this are an orange crayon, some neutral coloured boot polish, some petroleum jelly, plain flour, I've got a little cup that we'll put it into and then because we have to heat the wax together, we're going to use a bain-marie. And that is boiling water and then you put a separate bowl into which everything is mixed.

Alright now, we can see that the water's nicely boiling so we can start putting our ingredients in. Break the orange crayon up into little bits. As you can see, it starts to melt straightaway.

Now, I'm going to add some of our boot polish. We just need about a teaspoonful. Difficult to put exactly a teaspoonful but there we go.

Mix that around. Now, we don't want that on too high a temperature, about half heat. I don't know what numbers you have at home but almost 3 out of 6 here will be plenty to melt it down.

So now, we need to add in the petroleum jelly through our mixture so we need, roughly again, a teaspoonful. We need to slide that off. Okay, so we try and give this a good mix and see, it's getting quite watery in there.

We need to just let it mix a little bit more. Now, the Vaseline is there just to keep it nice and malleable, nice and flexible, later on. Without it, you'll find that you just end up with a block of orange wax again.

So we've got that now, we're almost melted down as you can see there. So, now is the time to add our flour. Now, this counterbalances the Vaseline which obviously is quite sticky to your hands.

So I find by adding the flour, it means you get a much better consistency. You don't have it sticking to your hands all the time which is obviously no good to you, okay. Don't worry about sieving it.

You just have to really do it by eye. Once we've got a thicker double cream top kind of consistency, then we can transfer it. Okay, so this is a bit thicker now.

Remember, it is hot so we're going to transfer it. You must make sure that you use something to protect your hands. I'm just going to use a doubled-over towel here.

I'm not going to touch this glass directly. Because it's been in the water for a while, it's very hot. Okay, I've got my little pot here.

I'm just going to pour that in. Now, this needs to go into the fridge or the freezer for about 15 or 20 so minutes, wait until it's nice and hard, then you have orange plasticine. .
