How To Make Organic Toothpaste
Next time you get ready to scrub your pearly whites, flip over your tube of paste and check the ingredients. If your favorite dental scrub has any dangerous or unknown chemicals, it may be time to use an organic and non-toxic toothpaste. Follow these easy steps to find out how to make your own inexpensive and eco-friendly toothpaste.
Step 1: Paste Maker
Pour a half of a cup of baking soda into your mixing bowl. Baking soda has a natural cleansing ability and can even be found in some commercial toothpaste. It's non-toxic and will help polish your teeth. Add ΒΌ cup of hydrogen peroxide and one drop of oil of peppermint. Hydrogen peroxide naturally disinfects your mouth and will also help whiten your teeth. The drop of oil of peppermint will leave your mouth feeling fresh.
Step 2: Mix Master
When you have poured in all your ingredients, take your tablespoon and thoroughly mix the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda until you get a paste. If you need to, mix in more hydrogen peroxide until you get the right consistency. You can store your homemade toothpaste in a plastic squeeze. Now that you have a natural, safe and inexpensive way to brush your teeth, you may never buy regular toothpaste again. Done.
Tips & Comments
I would recommend using food grade peppermint spirits.
My dentist gets very annoyed with even commercial toothpastes that contain baking soda. According to him, it is too abrasive to safe for the enamel on your teeth.
And by "very dangerous", I mean fatal.
I forgot to say that food grade must be diluted down to 0.05% or less if you want to ingest a small amount. It can be very dangerous so it's better to not even try.
The recommended dilution for anything to do with your body is 1.5%-3% You can dilute it more using water. Try not to swallow non-food grade hydrogen peroxide; if you get food grade, you have to be extremely careful about the dilution and amount because it's more than ten times purer than the stuff you get at the drugstore. H2O2 degrades very quickly in the light, so I'd recommend just making enough for one time or you'll just be brushing your teeth with baking soda and water.

Who says Organic is always better? When it comes to toothpase an organic toothpaste there is no toothpaste that provides tartar control or other ailments of the gum that hydrogen peroxide can't control. This recipe is purely cosmetic in nature and toothpastes are far more than cosmetics. Learn some science people. Toothpastes have a crap load of safety considerations taken into effect and its been used for 100+ years without issues.
Hydrogen peroxide is already used in commercial products. The fizzing you see is oxygen escaping bacteria, it's not melting anything.
3% Hydrogren Peroxide should be used-the kind you buy at Walgreens. Its organic because its made from natural and biodegradable ingredients. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down to water-it attacks both bacteria and viruses. Hydrogen Peroxide can also be used as a mouthwash, I've gotten rid of canker sores in 2 days using it.
Some other good organic toothpaste recipes include Sand and Rubbing Alcohol, however just like this recipe it is hazardous to your health
