How To Make Paper Hearts

Learn to make paper hearts in the traditional Japanese art of paper folding called origami and make a 3d origami paper heart.

Hi, this how to make origami hearts. Okay, this is actually little bit harder than the other ones and is, I would say, more advance. So, let's start, we are going to fold it in half but we are not going to fold a full line.

What we are going to do is crease the middle, so we are just going to crease the middle here. I am just going to draw it so I can see it, so all we did was crease the middle part here, then we are going to fold the edges into that middle line, okay, we are going to open it back up. Now, we are going to fold this edge to this line and we will create a crease that runs down the middle here.

So, this line to that line and you are just going to crease it again a little, about an inch, so about there. So, you are not folding the whole line, just the middle part. Turn it around and repeat.

So, we just folded this line and just made it a crease here. Fold these two edges back in and barely fold the entire model. Open it back up.

We are going to fold this point into the middle line and repeat fold on other four sides. We are going to open up those folds we've just done and we are going to fold these edges into that fold. Now, make sure all your folds are very sharp and unfold.

What we are going to do now is we are going to open this side and see where this triangle is? We are going to reverse the folds within on itself. So we are going to open it and push it in and then this part will come down. Repeat on this side.

Now, we are going to look inside the triangle and what we are going to do is, this fold that we folded earlier is actually on the inside and if I just tilt open, you will see where that is. It's down there. What we are going to do is open it outward so we can fold it in on itself, you see, that part there, fold it in on itself.

Once you fold it in on itself, fold it again and close up in the middle and what will happen is that this entire section will lock in on itself. Okay, so we are going to repeat it for this other side. Start again, it's this fold here.

Now, reverse it in on itself, just open it like I said and you see where that fold is and just bring that part backwards and it will lock in on itself. For the other end, all you have to do is fold it once, fold it twice, fold it once, fold it twice. Fold the whole thing down.

So, that's the bottom of the heart. Now, we are going to do the top part. To do that, see where these lines are, we are just going to fold this tip to meet those lines.

Again, make sure the folds are very, very sharp, there and there. Open it back up and now, we are going to fold this midpoint to there, so this line to meet there and you have to bend the entire model over, let's say, but you are not folding this turn, you are just folding this section from there to where that line is and just make a crease and again, you repeat on this side. So, you are going to bend the entire model, cross and fold it.

So what you have done so far is made that fold and that fold. I am going to draw them so I can see them, there and there and you made this fold here and here. I am going to open it up, like previously where you see this triangle here and here, we are going to reverse the folds in on it selves.

So, open it up, push there and reverse the folds, open it up, turn it around and repeat. Now, we have to lock these bits together, so bring it back out. Like previously for this section, we are just going to fold along here.

I am going to take on this side. Push them in on it selves, open it and where we folded it there, you see the folds on inside here. Like I say, so we are going to close them up and open this and you see where the dotted line is, we are just going to fold it in on itself and close it down and repeat on this side.

Turn it around and see where the dotted line is there and there, we are just going to fold it in on itself and it will lock. And we, to finally finish the model, we are going to press these to bits here
