A great tasting pear vodka can be made in two methods. This short video demonstrates both traditional and modern methods to get the right fruity infusion.
So now, we're going to show you a method of making pear infused vodka. There are two methods to doing this. One, the traditional way which is what Poire Williams uses and two, is a modern and faster way of doing it.
Now, in Poire Williams, what they do is they grow the pear inside the bottle so the pear stays within the bottle, it infuses with the brandy and then preserves the fruit. So, we're going to do a similar sort of method now just by taking our pear, sticking it in the glass or jar, covering it with vodka, and then if we cover this and leave it for 2 months, what will happen is the pear will start to infuse in the vodka and then the vodka will preserve the fruit. This means that you can have pear tasting vodka and then if you wanted to, you can have the fruit as well which will have a vodka hint with it.
So if we leave this for 2 months, the pear will infuse with the vodka and we'll get a great tasting pear vodka. Now, there's a faster way to infuse your pear vodka, simply by cutting up a pear into dices and sticking it in our mixing glass. We can then take a muddler and macerate the pear down to release some of the juices and then we put our vodka over the top.
Give it a small stir. Okay, so now, we have to strain all the pears out of our vodka so we're just left with our pear tasting vodka and not with the fruit. So, we pour into our tin, take 3 levels of strain to go through our muslin, and that's how to make pear vodka. .
