Step 1: You will need...

  • 450 g fresh tuna
  • 1 bunch coriander, roughly chopped
  • 1 bunch basil, roughly chopped
  • 1 bunch parsley, roughly chopped
  • 3 tomatoes
  • ¼ iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 tbsp chilli paste
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 saucepan
  • 1 slotted spoon
  • 2 trays
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 large bowl

Step 2: Prepare the tuna

Roughly dice the tuna into cubes.

Step 3: Poach the tuna

Fill the saucepan with water and bring to the boil. Add the tuna and stir well. Poach for 1.5 minutes. Remove the tuna with a slotted spoon and place on a tray to dry.

Step 4: Prepare the tomatoes

Cut the tomato into quarters and remove and discard the seeds and pulp. Cut the quarters into thin slices.

Step 5: Make the salad

Into the bowl, add the tuna, sliced tomato, chopped lettuce, basil, parsley and coriander. Pour over the chilli sauce, lime juice and mayonnaise. Finally, season with salt and pepper and toss well.

Step 6: Serve.

Place the salad onto a serving dish and serve immediately.

    I don't think I could bear to throw away all the unused tomato parts either. I'd find a way to use them in some other dish.

    Waste, waste, waste; Why discard any of the tomato? You can make juice or use the center of the tomato in a variety of dishes.
