How To Make Potato Torta With Mozzarella

Step 1: Preheat the oven
Set the oven temperature to 175ºC (325ºF/ gas mark 3).
Step 2: Oil the baking dish
Using a piece of kitchen roll, lightly wipe the baking dish with oil to prevent anything sticking or burning.
Step 3: Prepare the tomatoes
Using the small knife, core out the bottom of the tomatoes, then continue to slice them into small rounds.
Step 4: Prepare the potatoes
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes.
Step 5: Prepare the garlic
Taking the already peeled garlic cloves, thinly slice them.
Step 6: Prepare the mozzarella
Slice the mozzarella as thinly as possible, taking care as it can be quite slippery.
Step 7: Layer the dish
Arrange a layer of potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish, followed by a layer of tomatoes and a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Scatter the dried oregano and the garlic over the top and drizzle with some olive oil.
Finally, place a layer of mozzarella cheese over the top. Continue to repeat the layering process until the dish is nearly full, finishing with a layer of potatoes. Season well with salt and pepper and sprinkle with a dash of olive oil.
Step 8: Bake in the oven
Place the baking tray in the oven and leave to bake for 50 minutes or until the top is golden and crusty. The potatoes should be just tender.
Step 9: Serve
The dish is now ready to serve.
