Step 1: You will need

  • 750 g large prawns, with heads and shells
  • 45 g mild red chillies, or more if preferred
  • 1 red pepper, deseeded
  • some olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • lemon wedges to serve
  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 blender or pestle and mortar
  • 1 bowl
  • 1 mixing jug
  • 1 griddle pan or BBQ
  • 1 plate
  • 1 pair of tongs
  • 1 chopping board

Step 2: Liquidize ingredients

With the blender or pestle and mortar make a smooth paste of the chillies, red pepper, olive oil and salt.

Step 3: Marinate the prawns

Put the prawns into a bowl and spoon the blended ingredients over them. Make sure the marinade coats the prawns entirely. Store in the fridge in a sealed container for a couple of hours.

Step 4: Cook prawns

Preheat the griddle pan and sauté the prawns for 2 minutes on either side. Cook the larger prawns for a little longer.

Step 5: Serve prawns

Present the prawns on a serving plate and garnish with a large wedge of lemon. Drizzle over the lemon juice and serve with rice or a salad.
