How To Make Prawns Piri-Piri

Step 1: You will need
- 750 g large prawns, with heads and shells
- 45 g mild red chillies, or more if preferred
- 1 red pepper, deseeded
- some olive oil
- 1 pinch salt
- lemon wedges to serve
- 1 sharp knife
- 1 blender or pestle and mortar
- 1 bowl
- 1 mixing jug
- 1 griddle pan or BBQ
- 1 plate
- 1 pair of tongs
- 1 chopping board
Step 2: Liquidize ingredients
With the blender or pestle and mortar make a smooth paste of the chillies, red pepper, olive oil and salt.
Step 3: Marinate the prawns
Put the prawns into a bowl and spoon the blended ingredients over them. Make sure the marinade coats the prawns entirely. Store in the fridge in a sealed container for a couple of hours.
Step 4: Cook prawns
Preheat the griddle pan and sauté the prawns for 2 minutes on either side. Cook the larger prawns for a little longer.
Step 5: Serve prawns
Present the prawns on a serving plate and garnish with a large wedge of lemon. Drizzle over the lemon juice and serve with rice or a salad.

I would suggest you devein the prawns. It is safer for one thing, and what happens as you cook is that the prawns butterfly and cook the sauce in well, They look great too. As a lover of what we call in South Africa LM prawns, I would use more chili, much more and add a good dollop of garlic. The lemon is esential when yoiu serve.
