How To Make Singlecrochet Stitch

Here is a detailed lesson on how to make a single crochet stitch. In UK this stitch is called double Crochet (DC) and in USA - Single Crochet (SC) Here is a detailed lesson on how to make a single crochet stitch. In UK this stitch is called double Crochet (DC) and in USA - Single Crochet (SC)

Step 1: Set Up The Chain

I’m going to demonstrate how to do a double crotchet on a link of chain.
When you come to the individual chain and you’re going to start the next row, you’re going to miss one chain, working into the second chain, pull in the loop through, and then roll out your hook and pull it through both loops.

Step 2: Start The Chain

You’re going to continue to lock this, put in a chain through, roll around the hook, and pull in through two loops, working through each chain as you go along, all the way down until the end.
This gives you quite a firm fabric because it’s a very close stitch.

Step 3: Finish The Chain

When you come to the end of the chain, you are going to turn your work around, do one chain, and then pull two hooks underneath both loops of the next stitch, pull in the loop through and doing your next double crotchet.

Step 4: Set Up The Next Chain

You’re going to now work on the next stretch, pull in the hook through both loops, and double crotchet.
This is going to be your next row, and you’re going to work all the way down.
And as you can see it’s a very close stitch and giving you a firm fabric.

Im just learning to crochet, my mom in law is trying to teach me when ever we get together (not much as she is in california an dim in oregon), my first leason we got to this part and turning around, but it is still sort of unclear, this video helped me quite a bit, although when she says (after turning your work around and doing one chain) pull the hook through both underneath both loops of the next stitch...that is way confusing for me, I think I get it from jsut watching the video closely....all and all it was helpful, thank you.

It is not real clear whether or not you skip a chain link on each new row, as shown on the first row. I have tried this exact technique four different times and each time, it turns into a triangle shape. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

so I guess crochet is more time effcient than knitting, and knitting is more time efficent than looming. (I wanna learn crochet now! x))

So, the title says single crochet stitch, but she says double in the video. One of these must be wrong...
