How To Make Soap At Home

Soap is one of the objects we daily use at home. This is a video about making your own natural bath soap in your home. Hope you enjoy it.

We are going to make soap at home. We are using whole processed method. We use a caustic element called caustic soda.

We mix the caustic soda with water. I am using tap water here. First thing I am going to do is weigh my water.

The reason to weigh the water is we can be far more accurate. I need 176 grams of cold tap water. You could use bottled water.

Now, I am going to measure lime which will be 70 grams lime which is sodium hydroxide. Keep that aside with lids closed. Now, add the lime to the cold water.

This sodium hydroxide is going to heat it up, creates fumes in the process. So, I always suggest you do this in a well-ventilated room so that you do not breathe in the fumes which is not a pleasant experience. Stir the mixture to make sure you dissolve it fully.

And when you know there is no crunchy feeling in the below, that is when it is ready. This will not be a scary process if you it properly. Keep it aside to cool completely.

The next stage is to melt our lovely oils in the sauce pan completely. We are using here coconut oil which is lovely and moisturizing and it also gives a big rich lava which will be 128 grams followed by palm oil which gives the waxy texture to the soap and creates quite a hard bar. Soap without palm oil is really spurious.

Palm oil weighs 85 grams. And finally, my favourite ingredient, Shea butter which is 30 grams. The Shea butter will be moisturizing your skin.

Melt the oils in the stove for a couple of minutes. Adding the olive oil in the end helps in bring the temperature of the oils down. Firstly, add in the lime little just check there is no adverse reaction or fusing.

Then add in the rest of the lime to the oils and mix well. Stir in carefully. Dependent on the temperature of the room, oils, and the lime to get to the next stage, the mixture can take up to 3-4 days to set.

To speed up this process, I am using hand-held blender here instead of manually stirring. When it looks like custard, that is when it is ready to go into the stove. Cook it in the stove on slow heat mixing after each 5 minutes for a duration of 20-40 minutes.

Different oils take different times to get to this stage which took me about 15-20 minutes. I have measured out 14 grams of rose duranium scented oil and I am adding this to the mixture and mixing well. Now, this mixture is ready to go into the mould.

Set it in a mould for about 3 hours and then it is ready to come out of the mould. When it is hard and nice, that is when you can cut into soap bars and use it for your bath. That is how easy to make whole processed soap. .
