How To Make Sugar Free Frozen Yogurt

This video will explain how to make sugar-free frozen yoghurt by using certain ingredients while avoiding others to make it taste good.

Hi, I'm here to talk to you about yoghurt. So, a lot of people these days on the high street are selling sugar-free yoghurt. Now, it all depends on your definition of sugar, really.

A lot of people see sugar as sucrose and dextrose where other people see sugar as a general family that contains all sweeteners including natural ones such as fructose. Now, a great thing about making yoghurt at home is that you can choose exactly what goes into it. After you've made the yoghurt and left it to incubate like you can see in the other video, you've got to choose how you're going to make it taste good.

Some of you put vanilla in it, some of you put fruit in it. You're almost always going to put sweetener in it because it's very very tart without it. So, you can just eat it by itself but it probably won't taste that good.

The best thing to do is just to add whatever it is you want to sweeten it that will fit in your diet. So a lot of people use, you can use corn syrup which is a fructose, it's a naturally occurring sugar, it's not got such bad health connotations as the sucrose and dextrose, or you can even use an organic nectar which is what some frozen yoghurt bars here in England do. It's a nectar that comes from a cactus in South America.

It's just straight up fructose, it's like a syrup but it has a very low glycemic index which is good for you in various ways that I don't really understand, but the key is to make your sugar-free frozen yoghurt, you're going to have to use fructose. It isn't actually sugar-free, it's just technically, it is. Otherwise if you're really really clean, you can use strawberries, that's a nice sweet fruit.

You could use blueberries, same again, but basically you're going to have to sweeten it with something and live with consequences. .
