How To Make Thai Fried Rice

Thai Fried Rice Recipe. This fried rice dish will become a favourite side dish and with the addition of chicken, beef, or other meats, it can become a main course. Sample our Thai Fried Rice recipe.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 350 g pre-cooked rice
  • 4 Tbsp peanut oil
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp fish sauce
  • ¼ onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small tomato, quartered
  • 1 red chilli, copped
  • 4 Tbsp coriander, chopped
  • salt, white pepper
  • 1 lime, quartered
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • 1 Wok
  • 1 Wooden spoon

Step 2:

Mix the egg with soy sauce

Combine the egg and one-half of the soy sauce into a bowl and mix it to a uniform consistency.

Step 3:

Fry the eggs

Place the oil into a very hot wok. Add the egg mixture and stir until it is cooked. Now move it to the side of the wok.

Step 4:

Add the onion, garlic, chilli and the rice

Next, add more oil to the wok. Add the onion, mix everything together well and then add the garlic, the chilli and stir again. Add a touch more oil and add in the rice.

A useful Tip:

Refrigerated rice is used in this recipe because when rice is chilled, the grains do not tend to stick together. This makes it the perfect consistency for fried rice dishes.

Step 5:

Add tomato soy sauce, fish sauce

We now add the tomato, the soy sauce, and the fish sauce to the wok. Stir it all together well.

Step 6:

Finish with coriander

Just before serving, stir in the chopped coriander making sure it is distributed evenly throughout the rice.

Step 7:

Present with lime, cucumber, onion

Spoon your Thai fried rice into a serving bowl. Next, garnish it with slices of cucumber and a piece of lime. The lime can be squeezed over top of the rice to give it an added tangy flavour.

Step 8:

Serve

You can now serve this dish to your friends or family. This version of special rice can be altered by adding shrimp, chicken, pork or beef. Experiment and surprise yourself!

There is no right or wrong way to make "fried rice". This is a basic recipe from which you can build upon. Try adding Thai basil, veggies or what is leftover in the fridge. remember there is no right wrong or authentic method. Just have fun and find out what you enjoy. I like to add Grapow ( a peppery thai herb. Krup Khun Krup!!

All of you who claim it is not "authentic" Thai food, well then what actually comprises of "authentic". The dishes are named after the regional igredients. There are no engraved documents that specific qualifications of authentic foods. There are minor variations to this dish but this recipe is very much comprehensive as it is.

It is not authentic Thai food recipe but it looks edible. There is no fix recipe. Fried rice is basically leftover whatever meat and veggy in fridge fried with leftover rice. So you can adjust ingredients to whatever you like. Don't put too much oil (like in VDO) stir fried garlic + onion first then put meat(normally pork or chicken) + hard veggy then put egg. Wait til they are done, then put rice. After mix well, put tomatos(if you want) soy sauce, Fish sauce etc. almost last, then put chopped green onion and coriander last before turn of the heat. However if you can manage to cook until everything is done in wok, it should be edible. But if you have background of how to cook Chinese or Asian food, it will help a lot to make this dish better.,By the way, i'm Thai. ENJOY.

I have to say that this is not authentic fried rice thai style. 1. Garlic is not fried fragrance. 2. egg is not done like that. 3. for more fragrant use fish sauce to go roung the edge, not put it all to centre. if you just fry garlic lots and frange, egg and pepper till hot, and drizzle fish sauce around, will taste fresh and light. thai chilli with fish sauce or garlic is used for dipping. Please go to thailand and go for cooking class.

I'm not Thai but I like Thai food a lot, but I think this recipe had some weird things, and in the video the rice didn't look like thai rice at all. I think she would have benefitted from putting in green onions instead. It could be an ok advice video for a person who never fried rice in their life though, but not really traditional thai style.

I'm not thai but love thai food a lot, but this preparation looks a big strange... specially the rice, it doesn't look like good quality thai rice at all.

It doesn't matter whether the recipe is Thai or not. I tried this recipe using green/red peppers instead of red chilli. I also used indian basmati rice. It worked out nicely and everybody in the party loved it!
